A.G. Spaulding & Bros. Athletic
Exchange - Season of 1887 |
Fine/VF |
$950.00 |
| This is a rare and
desirable early baseball advertising note that exhibits good color
and even circulation. There is roughness along the top edge and a
few small tears/splits, but overall it is a note with strong eye
appeal and tremendous collector value.
Albert Spaulding was a star player and later an owner of the
Chicago White Stockings of the National Association of
Professional Baseball Clubs (NAPBB). He was also the founder of the
successful sporting goods business that still bears his name. Formed
in 1870, the White Stockings became an original franchise member of
the National Base Ball League and in 1876 joined with 9 other
teams to create what has become today's National League. From
1876 to 1886 the White Stockings won six pennants and were lead by
legendary players like "Cap" Anson, the first player to reach 3,000
hits in professional baseball. |
